Extreme emergency remedies are preparations that combine various flower essences that are used in emergency situations. One of the best-known combinations of flower essences are those developed by Dr. Edward Bach known as Bach Flowers or Rescue Remedy and is considered a very effective medicine to cure animals.
In general, many veterinarians use them to soothe animals before examination, before and after surgery, among other uses. Considering that 90% of animal problems are based on fear and distress, this treatment works very well in a first line approach to your patients.
Rescue Remedy does not interfere with other flower essences or treatments but rather works in tandem reinforcing their effects.
Rescue Remedy Composition
- Impatiens walleriana: for impatience, irritability, nervousness and stress that can manifest itself through muscle tension and pain.
- Clematis: is a remedy to calm the weakness that can bring a trauma of any kind.
- Cistaceae: is the remedy for terror, fear, panic and hysteria.
- Cherry plum: is used for loss of mental or physical control.
- Star of Bethlehem: remedy for physical and mental trauma.
Generally speaking, the Rescue Remedy cures stress, tension, restores calm, and relaxes.
Situations in which the Rescue Remedy can be applied
- Complementary treatment for crisis following an accident, dental procedures, shock, surgery.
- As an alternative to reduce the sedative dosage.
- As a way to combat the depressive effects of anaesthesia in animals born by caesarean section, or to recover those animals that are weak after birth.
- In an anaesthetic crisis if the heart stops or goes into cardiac arrest. It is used as supportive therapy to conventional emergency treatment.
- To restore balance after seizures.
- To promote faster wound healing.
- It can be used on all animals and birds that come to the veterinarian’s office. This way they calm down a bit so that the vet can check them better and find out what the problem is.
- For bathing or grooming the animal. In this way, they relax and unwind and both owners and dog groomers can work better.
- In the case of animals that live in shelters or have been rescued, they can drink water with this Rescue Remedy so they can live a more relaxed and peaceful life.
For example, in the case of birds, they should always receive a dose of Rescue Remedy, regardless of the problem they have. They are animals that scare very easily and can go into shock quickly.
As for cats, it is provided when they have been involved in accidents such as being attacked by dogs or when they have conditions such as diabetes, among others.
In the case of dogs, if they suffer traffic accidents, or when feeding newborns of some breeds such as Yorkshire Terriers and Chihuahuas that are born of a tiny size. Also, animals such as horses, fish, rodents, among others can receive doses of Rescue Remedy without any problems.
The best way to administer the Rescue Remedy is by adding drops to a liquid medium such as water. When the animal is unconscious, it can be anointed on the gums, nostrils (a small amount only) or on the skin. The Rescue Remedy cream is ideal for hits and wounds.
The dosage of Rescue Remedy for each type of problem varies from animal to animal, so I always recommend consulting your veterinarian to administer a safe and correct dosage.
Furthermore, I remind you that the Rescue Remedy does NOT replace veterinary medicine or traditional medicine, but complements and supports it.
